Treatment Tips & Recommendations
Preventing re-infestation with new fleas is essential so it's best to treat all the dogs in your home. Other pets living in your home should also be given a suitable flea product. For cats with fleas you can use CAPSTAR or ADVANTAGE For Cats.
Water exposure and your treated dog:
It's important to realize that the product always remains effective even if your dog gets wet. Prolonged water exposure does have some effect though and can reduce efficacy, so if possible it should be avoided. If frequent water exposure is unavoidable then your dog can be retreated, but remember not to retreat more often than once a week. If your dog smells and needs a good shampooing, then it's a good idea to do this before applying Advantix - or alternatively, wait until two weeks after the application to ensure the product performs as expected.

The Facts About Fleas, Ticks, Mosquitoes and Biting Flies
Advantix repels and kills – that’s why it’s different
Conventional flea and tick remedies destroy fleas and ticks only after they bite your dog’s skin and ingest the medication that circulates in your pet’s bloodstream that kills them. But Advantix for dogs is different. It repels and kills fleas & ticks, and repels sand flies, stable flies and mosquitoes even before they are able to bite your dog.
With less biting there is less risk of serious disease transmission
Due to it’s ability to repel parasites, K9 Advantix reduces bites and this means there is less risk of disease exposure and stress for your dog. This is much more effective than conventional flea and tick remedies which only kill the parasites once they have bitten your pet. Conventional remedies only kill but K-9 Advantix repels and kills.
Your dog’s health is constantly endangered by serious parasite-borne diseases like Lyme disease (transmitted by ticks) and Heartworm disease (transmitted by mosquitoes). During the process of blood sucking, these parasites will transmit these dangerous pathogens to your dog through their saliva. That's why it is so important to remember that killing the parasites is not enough, because they should also be stopped from being able to bite your pet.
Facts on Fleas
A flea infestation is known as the most common parasitic condition that affects dogs and cats in North America and all over the world. The dog flea (Ctenocephalides canis) and the cat flea (Ctenocephalides felis) are the main flea species of pets worldwide.
It’s a well known fact that flea bites cause severe itching and discomfort to your pet. And if left untreated, fleas often cause more serious medical problems in dogs, which can include tapeworms and allergic reactions also known as flea allergy dermatitis (FAD). This condition can cause hair loss in your pet, as well as skin inflammation, irritation, and continuous severe scratching. If present in large numbers, fleas can even cause anemia (from blood loss) and this can ultimately be fatal, especially if your dog is young, frail, or very small in size.
Flea life cycle -The flea life cycle develops through 4 stages, first starting with an egg, followed by a larval stage, then a pupa and finally the adult stage. The flea life cycle can be completed quickly, in 14 days or less, but can also take as long as 6 months depending on the weather in your area (heat and humidity in your environment). Advantix kills fleas & flea larvae for up to 4 weeks after treatment has been given.
Facts on Ticks
Ticks are the second most common parasite that are found on dogs. Many tick species are found around the world and they can infest pets in large numbers. Ticks are blood sucking parasites and are mostly found in tall grass. When your dog goes for a walk they attach themselves to the passing animal. Ticks have harpoon like mouth parts that allow them to attach themselves firmly to your dog’s skin while sucking blood from their hosts.
Ticks are also dangerous vectors of many diseases. An infected tick can carry the organisms that cause Lyme disease, Rocky Mountain spotted fever, and many types of ehrlichiosis, as well as many other potentially fatal diseases.
K9 Advantix repels and kills all the commonly found ticks that pose a danger to your pet, like Deer ticks, American dog ticks, Lone Star ticks and Brown dog ticks.
Facts on Mosquitoes
Many species of mosquitoes can be found across the USA and they can be a problem all year round if temperatures and humidity are favorable. Mosquitoes are mostly merely an annoyance, but it’s important to remember that they can spread viruses, protozoa, and other pathogens like worms to our pets.
Mosquitoes do feed on blood and the female mosquito actually needs to ingest blood to be able to proceed with normal egg production. But because mosquitoes are common carriers of diseases, it is very important to keep them away from your pet. Mosquito transmitted diseases are a major issue when it comes to maintaining the health of your dog, especially because mosquitoes can pass on the parasite that causes heartworm disease in dogs.
That’s why the ability of K-9 Advantix to repel and kill mosquitoes on your dog is so important.
Facts on Biting Flies
Another major threat to your dog comes in the form of other biting insects such as sand flies and stable flies. Sand flies are widely spread around many regions in the US and worldwide, especially areas with warm temperate, subtropical and tropical climates. The importance of sand flies is due to the health hazard they pose to your pet, which results from the ability they possess to transmit viral, bacterial & protozoal diseases.
Biting flies are known to cause severe stress to pets. Their bites cause major irritation of wounds which through continued scratching, can lead to other secondary bacterial infections. Advantix for dogs is great for repelling and preventing biting flies from blood feeding on your dog.
